Biography
I am a patient advocate. This is by far my most important role as an ob/gyn physician. My approach to medicine is to look at things from a patient’s point of view and then apply my medical knowledge to it to discern different treatment options. I strive to perform sound medicine while keeping an open mind in regard to new or different approaches that are ever-emerging. My goal everyday is to help women navigate through the ups and downs of life while offering an attentive ear, a compassionate heart, and a knowledgeable mind. I joined Fort Sanders Ob/Gyn in 2003. Actually, 2003 was quite a transition-year for me. I moved back to Tennessee and started my new job. My appreciation for the wonders and woes of pregnancy and motherhood was significantly heightened in 2006 when I welcomed twins to my family. I am excited about raising Thomas and Juliana here, as I am a native East Tennessean from Jefferson County.
Degrees
- Doctor of Medicine
Training
I attended Carson-Newman College for undergraduate education and the University of TN-Memphis for medical school. In 1999, I graduated with my medical degree and entered an ob/gyn internship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. After completion of the internship, I transferred to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC for the remainder of my residency training. My medical career continues to challenge and reward me as my practice grows here in Knoxville.
